It's been a while since my last post. As you all may know, last Saturday was the Relay For Life Fundraiser. So I've got good news and bad news. The good news is we raised over $9300 as a team! Amazing. I want to take the time now to Thank everyone who joined my team and help reach the incredible amount of money! Our goal was only $6000 and we surpassed by leaps and bounds. So thank you to everybody!!!! Joy/Don, Sissy/Kevin, Toni/Joe, Angela/Kevin, Lizzy, Auntie Kim, Tracey/Tom, Oksana, Tiffany, Brooke, Andrea, Vinny/Bonnie, Claudine & Family, Annie and Leah. The day of the relay started out beautifully - very hot - but beautifully. The first 7 hours were the best! With opening ceremony speeches, the survivor lap, the caregiver lap, the team lap. It was so moving. We were sobbing while doing the survivor lap to Celine Dion's "I'M Alive" song. The caregiver lap/son was a Bon Jovi tune which for the life of me right now I can't remember exactly the song so i'll get back to you all on that one. Everyone was so into the day's events. Even those not tolerable of the painfully hot day. The kids were having an amazing time just walking around "tent city" and doing their own laps. It was incredibly safe for them on the track so they were free to come and go. Our tents were set up for the evening's festivities until the black cloud came rolling in....Thus the bad news. It POURED. I MEAN IT POURED. The ACS took everyone into the cafeteria except for the few of us who braved the thunderstorms and lightening. Our canopy tent being help up by Donn. Our fundraiser -which incidentally was a bust - mostly ruined. The field had at least a foot of rain on the ground. So the cops , officially "called it". We were sent home due to the thunder and lightening. So after weeks of soliciting donations and attaining $9300 our celebration came to end. No doubt that we did the work of raising the funds but the Relay was our way of celebrating together. We all left the field soaking wet and with a few tears in our eyes that it had to end this way. That's the way the cookie crumbles. here are some pictures of the days events. If anyone has a shot fo the tribute wall, send it to me please!!! Thanks again to everyone who participated on this day!!!!
